Accessibility

A clear way in.
For everyone.

Useful information about this website.

Many stories.One shared thread.

Choose how you explore

Large text is the default for new visitors. The footer lets you switch to Standard text, choose Dark mode or return to Light mode, and pause decorative motion. Explicit text and appearance choices are saved on this device when browser storage is available. The website also respects your device’s reduced-motion preference.

Keyboard and screen readers

A skip link, visible keyboard focus, labelled controls, real links and clear headings support navigation. Internal page changes announce the destination and focus its heading. The menu closes with Escape. Footer appearance controls are ordinary buttons and work with the keyboard.

Listen, when supported

Listen buttons offer spoken introductions, articles and sections. The recommended voice favours a natural Irish-English voice when one is available, then Google UK English Male. Voice availability depends on your browser. Clearly labelled British-English AI recordings are also available as an alternative. Use Voice & reading in the footer to preview voices, change speed, or switch the reading source. Pause, Resume and Stop are always available during a reading.

Simple language, complete information

The homepage gives a short introduction. Technical detail is kept in Research & Publications. Educational and training areas are clearly labelled when content is not yet available.
